History

The Internationally Educated Nurse Educator’s Network began eight years ago when a small group of committed educators from Western Canada recognized the need to meet and discuss the unique challenges facing Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs) entering and integrating into the Canadian nursing workforce.

The first IEN Educators conference was held in Richmond, BC in 2006 and provided a forum to discuss the challenges and successes experienced in IEN education.  The network quickly expanded and by 2010 included educators from across Canada.   Annual conferences have been hosted across the country and bring together participants from multiple sectors to discuss the issues surrounding IEN migration to Canada.
